Questions

Do you fish on your guide trips? Yes I do. However, I'm not fishing to compete with you or to catch the fish you would normally catch. I fish to insure I have a handle on what's going on, things change every day and I like to experiment so we don't miss out.

What time do we launch? Generally at first light. I will be there on time so you will get the time on the water you deserve.

Will you help me pre-fish for a tournament? Yes the Delta is a huge body of water that fishes big. I can help you target the better quality fish and learn the different structures at the different tides and how to run the tides. If we are competing in the same event we will discuss it first to insure it will work ok for both of us.

What time do we return? This depends. A scheduled trip lasts eight hours; however, I stay out later when possible. If the bite is tough I will stay as long as we can to insure you get your money's worth.

Where do we launch? Most times I launch from Russo's Marina or B&W Resort

How is the fishing? That's a loaded question. This depends greatly on your casting and fishing skills. The better caster you are the more fish you will catch. An average day from mid April to October is 10-30 fish.

Can we fish for big bass? Yes, however, when your targeting large fish your numbers of fish decrease. I usually like to mix it up during the day. We will fish for big ones then fish for bites, working with in what your looking for.

What is the best time of year? March through May, in March and April the bite can be tough however, we catch a number of big bass. In May the bite picks up for numbers and we also get many large bass. June-September can be an excellent time to throw top water and catch large number of smaller fish. In October thorough December is a great time to catch good numbers and also good quality fish on crank baits and jigs.

What is the worst time of year? January can be very tough fishing we have some good days but most often you can expect only a few fish each day.

What Kind of boat do you have? Currently my boat is a 2009 Skeeter ZX225 (20 ft long) with a 225 hp Yamaha four stroke.

Do you run the tides or stay in one area? This depends on the bite; however, I enjoy fishing different areas at different tides and if we need to find abetter tide I know where to go.

Are you a full time guide? Yes, I make my living fishing, writing, competing, guiding and publishing the Bass Anglers Guide magazine.
